Amazing Vintage 1940s Dress Drapey Gold Rayon Jersey Celanese Type UK S/M
Amazing Vintage 1940s Dress Drapey Gold Rayon Jersey Celanese Type UK S/M
A really fabulous & very rare vintage 1940s dress made from a fine knit, slightly stretchy, slinky rayon jersey type fabric (possibly Celanese but not labelled as such) in a light gold colour. Cut in a dramatic style, with a plunging neckline, pleated, draped & gathered bodice, elbow-length sleeves with darts towards the cuffs & darted, supported heads, skirt with gathered hip panels & gathered centre panel to simulate a draped sash, & self-tie belt at the back. It fastens at the side with a concealed button placket.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.

Condition:
In good condition overall, especially for a jersey garment of this era, with a few flaws - priced accordingly. There is a small repair on the left shoulder, pin marks & a faint stain at the bottom of the V neck (as if a corsage has been repeatedly attached), a very faint pale spot under the left arm (arrowed), a repair & a light spot near the centre skirt front, a tiny hole near the right skirt side seam (all shown in close ups) - the shoulder pads are a bit bumpy. Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
I have a no returns policy - please check the above measurements and compare to a similar garment of your own before buying - no refund offered for items that don’t fit.
