Delightful Original 1940s Shirtwaister Dress Pale Apricot Floral Embroidered UK S/M
Delightful Original 1940s Shirtwaister Dress Pale Apricot Floral Embroidered UK S/M
A charming vintage 1940s rustic-style shirtwaister dress, home made from soft cotton fabric in a pale apricot or orangey-yellow colour & decorated with floral hand embroidery in green, brown & orange. Made in a very unusual style, the bodice has a V neck, applied strips which give a raglan sleeve effect with gathers on the inside, is gathered into the deep waistband, & has short sleeves; the 6-gore skirt is very full & flared, with pleats all round the waist. The front opens to hip level with a mixture of poppers & hooks/loops, & there are 5 decorative floral green early plastic buttons .
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.

Condition:
In very good condition overall - the buttons have a melted surface from a hot iron - there is a slightly faded patch on the centre right of the waistband (see close up) - 3 small faint dark marks on the lower skirt back which the camera couldn't capture - the waist appears to have been enlarged at some point, so that the opening is slightly off-centre when looking at the position of the embroidery - some of the inside seams have raw, tufty edges. Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
I have a no returns policy - please check the above measurements and compare to a similar garment of your own before buying - no refund offered for items that don’t fit.
