The ‘Old Fashioned Garments’ roll neck jumper is a vintage reproduction faithfully adapted from an original late 1930s pattern. Each piece is individually hand made by Rosie on a manually operated knitting machine (sometimes referred to as ‘hand frame knitting’) using discontinued or end of line British wool medium-weight 4-ply yarns which have been carefully chosen for their traditional appearance; thus each one is either unique or a very limited edition. The pattern is unusual in that the jumper is made with identical front & back pieces so that it can be worn both ways to ensure even wear.
This one is made from Shetland wool in a beautiful marled melange of purplish browns, greeny blues & lichen greens which is very variable in appearance depending on the light; we have no more of this yarn, so it is a one-off.
