A vintage early 1950s dress made by 'Kitty Copeland' from a fine knit, slightly stretchy, slinky rayon jersey type fabric (possibly Celanese but not labelled as such) in sapphire blue. Cut in a dramatic, rather more 1940s style, with a pleated, draped & gathered overlapping bodice, elbow-length sleeves with gathering towards the cuffs, full skirt with pleats all round the waist, & a wide, gathered sash-like half belt with self-covered buckle. It fastens down the back with a painted metal 'Lightning' zip with a hook & eye at the top.

Condition: In good condition overall - there is some subtle marking at the armpits - 4 pinholes to the skirt front & an area of about 6 pinholes & a small tear on the lower skirt back (circled in photos) - some faint, subtle dark striped marks here & there which the camera couldn't see - some surface polishing to the high spots. Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
