A vintage late 1940s or early 1950s dress, home made from a textured, drapey fabric which feels like a cotton/rayon blend in a sandy mustard colour. It has a fitted dolman bodice, V neckline with pointed 'wing' collar intended to stand up a bit, & T-shaped front seam with gathers to give shape at the bust; the 8-gore skirt is very flared & gathered into the waist, & there is a side opening with silver metal zip with a nice pointed puller.

Condition: In very good condition overall - there is a faint dark mark just below the waist, behind the zip - a tiny thin spot midway down the left skirt rear & some wear on the high spots around the waist - the canvas interlining in the collar is a bit crinkly - on close examination the colour is subtly uneven & striated, as if the dying was slightly unequal from new, but this may have been an intended effect - on looking inside some of the seam edges are frayed & tufted, although they have been blanket stitched. Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
