Original Vintage 1940s 1950s Home Made Dress Sandy Mustard Yellow UK XS
Original Vintage 1940s 1950s Home Made Dress Sandy Mustard Yellow UK XS
A vintage late 1940s or early 1950s dress, home made from a textured, drapey fabric which feels like a cotton/rayon blend in a sandy mustard colour. It has a fitted dolman bodice, V neckline with pointed 'wing' collar intended to stand up a bit, & T-shaped front seam with gathers to give shape at the bust; the 8-gore skirt is very flared & gathered into the waist, & there is a side opening with silver metal zip with a nice pointed puller.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.
Size: Suggested UK XS Shown on a mannequin with a 34" bust and it was snug on her bust (please check measurements below)
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent):
Bust approx.: 17 1/2" (44.4 cm)
Waist: 13" (33cm)
Hips: free
Cuff opening: 6 1/4" (15.8cm)
Bodice length from nape to waist seam: 15 1/4" (38.6 cm)
Length (nape to hem): 40 1/2" (102.8cm)
Condition:
In very good condition overall - there is a faint dark mark just below the waist, behind the zip - a tiny thin spot midway down the left skirt rear & some wear on the high spots around the waist - the canvas interlining in the collar is a bit crinkly - on close examination the colour is subtly uneven & striated, as if the dying was slightly unequal from new, but this may have been an intended effect - on looking inside some of the seam edges are frayed & tufted, although they have been blanket stitched. Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
I have a no returns policy - please check the above measurements and compare to a similar garment of your own before buying - no refund offered for items that don’t fit.
