Original Vintage 1940s Coat Striped Fake Faux Fur Grey Teddy UK L
A vintage 1940s ‘Teddy Bear’ coat, made from faux fur fabric in an unusual variegated striped grey. Cut in a loose, boxy style, it has a large collar with rounded tips, 2 slash pockets, quite wide sleeves with padded heads, & fastens with 2 large self-covered buttons. It is fully lined in grey crepe de chine type fabric; there are no makers labels.

All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent):
Bust: 22" (55.8cm)
Shoulder width seam to seam: 16" (40.7cm)
Sleeve length shoulder to cuff: 23" (58.4cm)
Sleeve length underarm to cuff: 16" (40.7cm)
Sleeve width at widest point (armpit level): 8" (20.3cm)
Width at hem: 33" (83.8cm)
Length Nape to Hem: 44" (111.7cm)
Condition:
In fair condition with an overall patina & a number of flaws - externally there is loss of pile on all the leading edges, around the cuffs, shoulders, & pocket openings - a group of large bald patches near the centre back hem - smaller bald patches on both front panels towards the hem / leading edges - a large bald patch on the left cuff - a smaller bald patch near the right cuff - several other less apparent scattered bald areas. Internally the lining has overall patchy discolouration, some watermarks, some small holes & frays, a seamed repair near the right armpit. The shoulder pads are lumpy & a bit loose/misplaced. Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
