A beautiful vintage 1940s dress, hand made from a fairly thick rayon crepe with a woven double wavy stripe self pattern in a russet red colour. It has a round neckline, smocking at the shoulders, pleats into the waist, & fairly wide sleeves gathered into popper-fastened cuff bands; the six-gore skirt is quite flared. The dress opens down the back to waist level with poppers & decorative self-covered buttons - there is no side opening, so the waist seam must be pull on over the bust - & there is a matching belt with covered buckle.

Condition: In very good to excellent condition overall - on close examination there is a subtle mark at the front neck area (see close up). The bottom button at the back is missing (not very noticeable as it's so close to the belt). The fabric has worn through at the corners of the buckle. Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
