A superb vintage 1940s playsuit or sun suit made from a floppy rayon fabric with a wonderful bold, abstract leaf print in vibrant shades of purple, green, blue, pink, red & black on a white background. It has a boned, lined bodice with button-on spaghetti straps, flared skirt, & attached integral knickers with elasticated legs; it fastens at the side with a silver metal 'Star' zip, with a corresponding hook-fastened opening in the knickers.

Condition:
In good condition overall - there are tufty stitch marks alongside the zip, some untidy hand sewing at the bottom of the zip, & some wear at the edge & inside the lining near the top of the zip (perhaps the zip has been replaced &/or moved slightly to enlarge the garment) - tufty snags/stitch marks all around the hem & around the waist seam - tiny drawn threads along some of the other seams (an inherent result of machine stitching this type of fabric) - a small repair on the top centre edge of the bodice - on looking inside, the seam edges are raw & unfinished, with tufty frayed edges, there are frayed holes inside the leg openings where the elastic has been (unprofessionally!) replaced & some fraying to the opening in the knickers where the hook has been snagging.
Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
