An outstanding vintage 1940s two-piece jacket & skirt ensemble made from a Moygashel-type of fabric which feels like either a linen/rayon blend or a linen-look rayon, with a fantastic bold print of abstract illustrations of fruits, vegetables & foliage in black on yellow & grey splodges with an off-white background. The jacket has a huge pointed collar which runs into the shoulder yoke, short sleeves, is darted into the waist seam & has a hip-length skirt section; the front fastens with large black early plastic buttons decorated with painted leaves. The skirt is flared, with 4 pleats at the front waist & a deep kick-pleat at the back; it fastens at the side with a silver metal 'Lightning' zip & hooks & loops.

Condition: In excellent condition overall - on close inspection there is a feint dark mark next to the 2 button, and minor fraying in the corners at the junction of the collar & the neck front (see last photo) - the skirt waist has been slightly enlarged by the addition of a small piece of matching fabric at the end of the waistband.
