Outstanding Original Vintage 1930s FOGA Sun Dress Floral Cherry Embroidered Rayon UK XS
Outstanding Original Vintage 1930s FOGA Sun Dress Floral Cherry Embroidered Rayon UK XS
A superb vintage late 1930s 'Fashion Originator's Guild of America' (or FOGA) labelled sun dress, made from off-white slubby textured fabric which feels like a linen/rayon blend with an overall embroidered pattern of blossoms or large cherries (I can't decide which!) in bright red & green. The bodice has a V neckline with 2 columns of ruching at the bust, an open back with crossover straps, & short, puffy raglan sleeves with ruched, gathered edges & tight cuffs ; the flared skirt is bias cut with a high front waist seam. The dress fastens at the side with poppers, & there are thread belt loops but no belt.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.
Size: Suggested UK XS (please check measurements below)
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent):

Waist: 13" (33cm)
Hips (measured 7" below waist seam): 19" (48.2 cm)

Condition:
In excellent condition with light wear overall - there are a couple of faint brown marks towards the front hem - on looking inside, the skirt hem has been rather amateurishly sewn by hand & the edge is raw & a bit tufty.
Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
