A wonderful vintage late 1930s hand made cardigan jacket in yellow, cream, red, green & navy blue, which is made with a combination of crochet for the horizontals & embroidery/weaving in for the vertical stripes to give a plaid or checked effect. It has a V neckline with collar & lapels, short sleeves, & fastens down the front with red flower-shaped early plastic buttons; the yarns are quite thick & smooth, & feel like pure wool. The famous model & photographer Lee Miller owned a very similar jacket, which is still in the Lee Miller archive; she is wearing it in the colour photo 'Four women asleep' by Roland Penrose attached to my image.

Condition: In very good condition, with light wear overall & some minor bobbling - there is a faint brownish coloured mark with a small repair next to it on the right revere (see last photo) - a few other virtually invisible repairs here & there which the camera couldn't pick up - a few loose strands along the hem & cuffs, due to the weaving-in technique. Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
