A wonderful and exceedingly rare vintage 1940s English zip-up sports jacket, made from soft suede in a warm red colour with a tonal leather faced collar. Styled in a blouson or cyclist style, it has intricate front panels to create the bust & pocket shaping, long pointed collar, padded shoulders, curved back yoke, & is darted into the waistband which has side adjuster straps & buckles for fit. The sleeves are long & darted into shirt-style button cuffs, the front fastens with a painted silver metal 'Lightning' zip & a button tab on the waistband, & it is fully lined in pinkish rayon.

Size: Suggested UK XS/S (please check measurements below) All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent): Bust: 18 1/2" (47cm) Waist - Maximum: 15" (38cm) Minimum with buckles pulled in: 12 1/2" (31.7cm) Shoulder to shoulder: 14 1/2" (36.8cm). Sleeve length shoulder to cuff (the pad is about 1/2" thick): 24" (61cm) Sleeve length underarm to cuff: 17 1/4" (43.8cm) Length Nape to hem: 19 1/2" (49.5cm)
Condition: The jacket is in good condition for a suede garment of this age, with no obvious dryness except to the leather collar - there is overall wear & patina, slight unevenness to the colour, scattered small light spots & a few small darker marks - some wear & broken stitching to the waist buttonhole & the right waist tab (see close ups) - the waist buckles are a bit rusty & the left cuff button is odd - some colour loss to the collar - the lining has scattered age spots / foxing & some small tears - the zip is a bit stiff.
