A rare & wonderful vintage 1940s dressing gown or beach robe made from cotton towelling fabric in dark blue & grey stripes with wavy red & light blue foliate woven patterns. It has notched lapels, darts at the shoulders, straight, fairly wide sleeves, & is flared in the skirt with a single patch pocket on the right front; it fastens with 2 plastic buttons & crocheted loops, which are a later addition, & has a long tie waist belt.

Condition: In good condition overall, with scattered minor snags/pulls & some minor flaws:- there is patch repair near the pocket and 2 repairs to the back just below the collar (see close ups) - the painted surface of the buttons has small cracks & some tiny chips. Looking inside the garment - there is minor yellow discolouration to the collar, surface wear around the armholes, and a light paint? mark (not visible on the outside), all shown in close ups. Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
