A really lovely vintage 1940s dress, superbly cut with a great dramatic silhouette & drape, made from a fairly lightweight black rayon with an abstract floral self-texture. The bodice has a v-shaped neckline, crossover front with draping gathered panels and front peplum accentuated by the offset faux fastening with faceted clear glass buttons with gold details, & long slim sleeves with darted, supported heads; the skirt is flared, with an offset box pleat at the front & a centre pleat to the back, & there is a matching tie belt. There is no side opening, so the dress must be pulled on over the bust.

Condition: In very good to excellent condition overall - on close examination there are a few scattered minor snags to the fabric. Has been carefully hand washed and steamed prior to listing.
