An outstanding vintage 1940s handmade dress, made from a drapey, textured rayon fabric with a wonderful painterly abstract novelty print in dark blue, grey, yellow, green, magenta, & pink; the overall effect makes me think of a bouquet of flowers. It has a short-sleeved dolman bodice with deep pleats at the shoulders & at the under-bust darts, V shaped neckline, huge collar, & opens to the waist with matching fabric covered buttons (one is an odd replacement); the skirt is very flared, almost circular, & is pleated into the waist seam at the front. The dress fastens at the side with a silver metal 'Opti' zip with a nice pointed puller; there are thread belt loops, but no belt.

Condition: The dress is in excellent condition, with light wear overall - on close inspection there are some light coloured marks on the skirt back near the hem (see last photo - they are well camouflaged by the print) - one button is an odd (but visually quite close) replacement.
