A very special & stylish vintage European 1940s jacket, tailor made from a medium weight, slightly homespun-looking wool fabric in a greyish-green colour with irregular pale pinstripes. It has an extremely shapely cut, very wide, strongly padded shoulders with action pleats at the back, nipped-in waist with half-belt, welted chest & two lower flapped pockets; the front has hand-sewn buttonholes with 3 marbled grey-brownish early plastic buttons, there are matching smaller buttons at the cuffs & it is fully lined in light grey crepe de chine.

Condition: In very good condition overall with the following flaws - externally there is a faint brown mark on the upper right sleeve (arrowed in photo) & a tiny snag on the left underarm near the cuff (see close up) - internally the lining is grubby, watermarked & stained, with several small holes (see photos). The buttons have been sewn on rather tight & without shanks, so they are a bit fiddly to fasten, but it appears to be the original thread so I left them as is. Has been carefully hand washed & thoroughly steamed prior to listing.
