An amusing vintage late 1930s or 1940s French sidecap or forage cap style hat from 'Andree' of Lyon. Made from dark brown felt, with ribbing at the front created by Trapunto or quilt stitching, a pointed shape at the back to fit the head, & decorated with 2 fur pompoms on a knotted felt stalk. I don't know what kind of fur it is - perhaps rabbit.

Size: Shown on a mannequin with a 22" head circumference. Inner circumference approx: 22" (55.9cm) Length front to back: 11" (27.9cm) Height at tallest: 5 1/4" (13.2cm)
Condition: In good condition overall - there are 2 small holes on the left edge, a hole at the back next to the seam & 2 surface nips on the right front (all arrowed) - discolouration & marking on the inner petersham band & the inside of the hat.
