Vintage 1930s Crepe Floral Hostess Gown Zip Lounge Dress Housecoat 1940s UK XS
A really wonderful vintage 1930s two-tone hostess gown or house dress, made from rayon crepe fabrics, one with a bold multicoloured abstract floral print & the other with small posies on a black background. It has Princess seam construction, a pointed collar, & long slim sleeves with pleated heads; it opens most of the way down the front (so that you have to step into it) with a silver metal "Flit British" zip with attached fabric cord & ball, and there are belt loops with a matching tie belt at the waist. No labels present.

All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent):
Bust: 17 1/2" (44.5cm)
Waist: 15" (38.1cm)
Hips: 17 1/2" (44.5cm)
Shoulder width seam to shoulder seam: 13 1/2" (34.2cm)
Sleeve length shoulder to cuff: 24 1/2" (62.2cm)
Sleeve length underarm to cuff: 18" (45.7cm)
Sleeve width at widest (armpit level): 6" (15.2cm)
Length nape to hem: 53" (134.6cm)
Condition:
In very good condition overall - there are 3 small repairs on the right front side below the hip (arrowed) - a few drawn threads, the most obvious being on the neck back & the right sleeve (arrowed) - a repair to the top right belt loop - a few scattered snags here & there on the dress & the belt - there is an area of tiny white surface spots towards the left front hem (circled). Has been carefully hand washed and steamed prior to listing.
