About this item
A vintage 1940s/1950s shirt dress, home made from a floppy woven rayon fabric in a checked or gingham pattern in red & navy with machine embroidered blue heart-shaped flowers & blue ric rac trim. It has a high round neck, fitted bodice, long slim sleeves with pleated heads & popper-fastened cuffs, & flared skirt with deep pleats around the waist; the front opens to just below the waist with red glass buttons with moulded flower motifs - there are no other openings.

Condition:
In good condition overall - there is an old darn to the back to the left sleeve at the the elbow & another to the skirt front just below the waist seam - wear and some repairs to the button holes - loss of the black paint on the buttons & a small chip to one - some edge repairs to the cuff linings - a few snags to the embroidery & subtle dark discolouration to the armpits.
Has been carefully hand washed and steamed prior to listing.
