Vintage Mens 1940s "Banner" Cotton Flannel Pullover Shirt British Overhead Tunic Half Buttoned Spearpoint Collar S
A vintage circa 1940s shirt by the well-known British maker 'Banner', made from a cotton flannel end-on-end weave fabric with a slightly brushed finish in pale grey-blue (my camera really struggled to photograph it properly but the close-ups as best on my screen). Half-buttoned pullover or overhead style with a soft 'spearpoint' collar with stay slots, has long tails with reinforcing gussets, & long sleeves pleated into single cuffs with gussets in the vents; the buttons are off-white early plastic.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.
Size: Marked 15 1/2" neck, but has shrunk over the years, see measurements below. Shown on a mannequin with a 38" chest.
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent):

Chest from pit to pit: 22" (56 cm)
Shoulder seam to seam: 18 1/4" (46.3 cm)
Sleeve shoulder to cuff: 23 1/2" (59.7 cm)
Sleeve pit to cuff: 20 1/2" (52cm)
Back length (base of collar at back to hem): 36" (91.5cm)
Condition:
In good condition overall, soft & slightly faded from countless washes, with some minor flaws as follows: a tiny patch of wear on the left front of the neckband (arrowed), a small hole on the inner right neckband (circled) - slight yellowing/grubbiness around the collar fold. Has been gently washed & pressed prior to listing.
I have a no returns policy - please check the above measurements and compare to a similar garment of your own before buying - no refund offered for items that don’t fit.
