A vintage 1950s three-piece suit, bespoke tailored in 1956 in a rather conservative or backdated style by 'Streffords' of Hull from medium-weight herringbone weave wool fabric in charcoal grey. Single-breasted sack-style (i.e. without front darts) 3 button jacket with medium padded shoulders, notch lapels, welted chest & lower flap pockets, cuffs with 3 decorative buttons; fully lined in greyish satin rayon with ivory striped sleeve linings. Waistcoat with 6 buttons, 4 pockets, rear adjuster strap, backed & lined to match the jacket. Trousers are full cut & wide in the leg, with braces buttons, side slip & 1 flapped rear pocket, button fly, turn-ups; wool flannel panels have been added inside the crotch area, presumably for added warmth. Could easily pass for a 1930s or 40s suit if styled appropriately.
Shirt & tie not included.

Condition: In generally very good condition, does not appear much worn but with some minor flaws - a small patch of wear on the right lapel edge by the collar seam - 2 small holes on the lower left waistcoat front - a small hole on the left outside leg, 11" up from the hem - some marks & stains to the trouser lining, especially the added hand-sewn panels which could easily be removed. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
