A festive vintage 1940s French blouse, made by 'Michelle France' from rayon taffeta fabric with a bold checked pattern in red, green, black & yellow. It is a sleeveless dolman style, has a large, long pointed collar, is darted to fit the waist, & fastens down the back with self-covered buttons & a tiny mother-of-pearl button at the neck.

Size: Marked 42. Suggested UK S. Shown on a mannequin with a 36" bust & it was a bit too snug on the bust, best suited for about a 34" bust (Please check measurements below) All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent): Bust: 18 1/4" (46.3cm) Waist: 15" (38.1cm) Width at hem: 20" (50.8cm) Neck circumference approx. 14" (35.5cm) Arm opening: 8" (20.2cm) Length nape to hem: 21 1/4" (54cm)
Condition: In good condition overall, with some flaws as follows: the collar has pin holes from a brooch & some iron shine & pressed-in creases - there is a seamed repair just behind the left side waist - 3 faint marks to the rear right shoulder - some seam strain at the waist darts - on looking inside it can be seen that the armpits have been repaired (not visible when worn). Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
