A lovely vintage 1940s dress, a 'Gainsborough Garment' made from drapey rayon crepe in a russet or chestnut colour. It has an inset crossover gathered bib or plastron panel, nicely shaped shoulders with pads extending into the darted sleeve heads, & over-long sleeves intended to drape over the shirt style cuffs; the 2-gore skirt is flared, with multiple pleats in the middle section at front & back. It opens at the side with a brass 'Lightning' zip, has self-covered buttons on the cuffs, & belt loops with a matching self tie belt.
