Vintage 1940s Embroidered Peasant Blouse White Chiffon UK S
Vintage 1940s Embroidered Peasant Blouse White Chiffon UK S
A beautiful vintage 1940s peasant style short raglan sleeved embroidered blouse, made from a fine semi-sheer chiffon fabric (either rayon or silk, I'm not sure which) in white. It has multicoloured floral hand embroidery in a bib shape on the front & on the sleeves, with co-ordinating criss-cross smocking around the neck & cuffs; there is a tie cord to fasten the neck, & an internal drawstring in a tunnel at the waist. Sadly the label is frayed & rather illegible.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.
Size: Suggested UK S, shown on a mannequin with a 34" bust (please check measurements below)
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent):
Bust: 18" (45.7cm)
Waist (drawstring) : Maximum: 17" (43.2 cm)
Sleeves underarm to cuff: 4" (10.2 cm)
Cuff opening: 5" (12.7cm)
Approx length top of shoulder to hem: 22" (55.8cm)
Condition:
In good condition overall - there is a small darn on the front & another on the back (both circled) - 3 small seamed repairs on the back just below the waist cord (arrowed) - some missing threads on the orange smocking at the neck back & on the neck back edge - some wear & fraying at the mouth of the drawstring tunnel.
Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
I have a no returns policy - please check the above measurements and compare to a similar garment of your own before buying - no refund offered for items that don’t fit.
