Vintage 1940s Handmade Blouse Floral Novelty Print Cotton Deco Buttons XS
Vintage 1940s Handmade Blouse Floral Novelty Print Cotton Deco Buttons XS
A lovely vintage 1940s summer blouse or jacket, home made from a finely-woven, fairly stiff cotton fabric with a cheerful floral print in purple, blue, red & green on an off-white background. It has an open neck with small square collar, short sleeves with darted shoulders & turn-back cuffs, 2 sets of stitched-in horizontal folds on the bodice & a waist seam with skirt section below; it fastens down the front with poppers & has 5 decorative marbled purple early plastic buttons.
NB. The belt in the photos is NOT included & is not for sale.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.
Size: Suggested UK XS fairly short fitting as the waist seam sits quite high (no taller than 5ft4)
Shown on a mannequin with a 34" bust & it was a bit too tight on the bust for her, best suited to a person with a 32" bust (please check measurements below)
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent):
Bust: 17" (43.2 cm)
Waist: 14 1/2" (36.8 cm)
Shoulder width seam to shoulder seam: 12 1/2" (31.7 cm)
Width at hem: 18" (45.7 cm)
Sleeve length shoulder to cuff: 9" (22.8cm)
Cuff opening: 5 3/8" (13.6 cm)
Bodice length nape to waist seam: 14" (35.5 cm)
Length nape hem: 22 3/4" (57.8 cm)
Condition:
In very good condition, with light overall wear - there are some feint marks on the centre front, between the 2nd & 4th buttons - some faint brown spots on the collar - a fade line across the collar which is on both sides, as if the collar has been made from reclaimed fabric (see last photo).
Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing but has a feint musty storage smell.
I have a no returns policy - please check the above measurements and compare to a similar garment of your own before buying - no refund offered for items that don’t fit.
