A dramatic vintage 1940s jacket by 'Pochette', made from a medium weight herringbone weave wool fabric in marled red & dark blue which is used sideways. It has pleats at the front sides of the bodice & broad, strongly padded shoulders to create a strong silhouette, fitted waist with front self-tie belt, 2 lower flapped pockets, & long sleeves; it fastens at the waist overlap with a hook & eye, and is trimmed with an applied dark blue velvet collar & has velvet-faced decorative mini faux pocket flaps. Fully lined in dusky pink crepe de chine fabric.

Condition:
In excellent condition overall - the lining is a bit marked & grubby, & there is a small tear & some seam strain at the right armpit (arrowed). Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing but not cleaned.
