Vintage 1940s Mens Double Breasted Overcoat Coat Brown Herringbone Crombie Wool DB Belted 38"
A splendid vintage 1940s overcoat, made by 'G.A. Dunn & Co.' from a thick, slightly fleecy Crombie wool cloth with a textured herringbone weave in milk chocolate brown. It is double-breasted with broad lapels, has quite heavily padded shoulders, top-stitched seams, gauntlet cuffs, 2 lower hand-warmer pockets slashed through to allow access to garments beneath, & matching belt with leather covered buckle. Part lined with brown satiny fabric, with an inside breast pocket.

Size: Marked R38, to fit about a 38" chest, depending on whether a suit jacket is worn beneath. Photographed on a 38" mannequin.
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent):
Chest - armpit to armpit: 24" (61cm)
Shoulder to shoulder: 20" (51cm)
Shoulder to cuff: 26" (66cm)
Armpit to cuff: 18" (45.8cm)
Waist: 23 1/2" (59.8cm)
Back length - base of collar to hem: 47" (119.4cm)
Condition:
In very good to excellent condition, with light surface wear overall - there is a small moth nip to each cuff (arrowed) - the inside jigger button is a bit loose. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
