Vintage 1940s Mens Storm Coat Double Breasted Raglan Overcoat Alpaca Pile Teddy Bear Faux Fur Collar & Lining Small
A vintage 1940s storm coat, retailed by the 'Harvard Cooperative Society' & made from a fairly heavyweight gabardine-type twill fabric in sandy khaki colour with Alpaca pile faux fur collar & lining. It is double breasted with broad lapels, has raglan sleeves with cuff tabs, throat tab under the collar, unpadded shoulders, slash pockets with brushed cotton lining, no rear vent, & matching belt with leather-covered buckle; the body is lined in short-pile faux fur fabric & the collar is faced with a longer pile.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.
Size: Suggested Small / Short, to fit about a 36" chest, depending on whether a suit jacket is worn beneath.
Photographed on a 38" mannequin.
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent):
Chest - armpit to armpit: 23" (58.5cm)
Sleeve length centre neck to cuff: 33 1/2" (85cm)
Armpit to cuff: 17" (43cm)
Waist: 24" (61cm)
Back length - base of collar to hem: 39 1/2" (100cm)
Condition:
In good condition overall, not overly worn but with some flaws & patina - there are brownish marks across the shoulders & down the outer sleeves & body edges, more obvious on the right hand side (due to long term hanging storage) - other scattered grubby marks & watermarks - faint stitch marks where the buttons have been moved, & some surface pulling & snags nearby - wear to the buttonholes & to the buckle - loss of pile around the inside cuffs & at the armpits. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing but a strong musty storage smell remains.
I have a no returns policy - please check the above measurements and compare to a similar garment of your own before buying - no refund offered for items that don’t fit.
