Vintage 1940s Mens Valstar Single Breasted Overcoat Coat Grey Herringbone Tweed 36" 38"
A vintage 1940s or early 1950s overcoat, made by 'Valstar' from a herringbone weave tweedy cloth in variegated mid-grey tones. Cut in an easy-fitting, slip on style, single-breasted with broad notch lapels, quite heavily padded shoulders, 2 large lower patch pockets with flaps, deep cuff turn-backs with decorative buttons. Fully lined with grey-brown rayon fabric, with 1 inside breast pocket.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.
Size: Marked 36", could fit a size larger depending on layers worn beneath.
Photographed on a 38" mannequin.
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent):
Chest - armpit to armpit: 23 1/2" (59.7cm)
Shoulder to shoulder: 18 1/4" (46.3cm)
Shoulder to cuff: 25" (63.5cm)
Armpit to cuff: 17 1/4" (44cm)
Waist: 24" (61cm)
Back length - base of collar to hem: 45" (114.3cm)
Condition:
In really excellent condition, appears virtually unworn - the lining has discolouration across the shoulders (storage transfer from a hanger) & scattered orangey spots, mostly towards the hem. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
I have a no returns policy - please check the above measurements and compare to a similar garment of your own before buying - no refund offered for items that don’t fit.
