A super vintage 1940s American skirt by 'Koret of California', made from a lovely light weight wool fabric with a bold checked or plaid pattern in shades of russet red, blue & white on a marled dark grey background. It is flared, has pleats all round which are top-stitched to hip level, fastens at the side with a painted metal 'Talon' zip & a hook/bar on the waistband, & is unlined.

(please check measurements below) All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent): Waist: 13" (31.7 cm) Hips (measures 7" down from the waistband): 19 1/2" (49.5cm) Length top of waistband to hem: 25 1/2" (64.7cm)
Condition: In very good condition with light wear overall - the metal waist hook & bar have some surface rust, with wear to the fabric behind the bar & is a bit difficult to fasten - the waistband is made with an unfinished raw inner end, which is a bit frayed, & part of the top inside edge of the skirt where it joins the waistband is also raw & a bit frayed on the edge - the cotton tape backing the bar has slightly worn through - the hem has been refinished inside at some point using lace tape rather than the usual bias binding. Has been carefully hand washed and steamed prior to listing.
