Vintage 1940s Wrap Overall Housecoat Dressing Gown Robe Novelty Rose Print UK L
A striking vintage 1940s overall smock, made from from a printed cotton fabric with a bold abstract floral print of dark blue roses & red leaves on a white background. It is cut in a wrap-over style with shawl collar & waist ties, a single hip pocket & long sleeves with shirt-style buttoned cuffs. Could also be worn as a dressing gown or summer wrap dress.
Size: Suggested UK L. Shown on a mannequin with a 36" bust (please check measurements below)
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent):
Bust: 23" (58.3cm)
Waist (pulls in with the belt: 22" (55.8cm)
Hips: 25" (63.5cm)
Shoulder width seam to shoulder seam: 17" (43.1cm)
Sleeve length shoulder to cuff: 24" (61cm)
Sleeve length underarm to cuff: 25" (63.5cm)
Sleeve width at widest (armpit level): 9" (22.8cm)
Cuff opening: 4" (10.2cm)
Length nape to hem: 43" (109.2cm)
Condition:
In good condition with some flaws:- there is a patch of faint brown marks on the left skirt (not visible when fastened) - another smaller mark below the pocket - a small tear on the pocket - a faint mark on the front right shoulder & another on the back right shoulder - a discreet seamed repair on the centre back (all circled) - the cuffs are a bit grubby. The garment is made with French seams which have been badly trimmed during manufacture so that tufts are visible here & there (this is cosmetic & does not affect strength).
Has been carefully hand washed and steamed prior to listing.
