A wonderful vintage early 1950s suit comprising jacket & 2 pairs of trousers, quality bespoke made by an unknown tailor from really beautiful Donegal Tweed in marled browns & natural with orange & yellow flecks. Single-breasted 3 button jacket with medium padded shoulders, notch lapels, suppressed or fitted waist, fairly short skirted, centre vent, welted chest & angled lower flap hand & ticket pockets, cuffs with 4 working button, centre front link button; fully lined in bronzey satin rayon with ivory striped sleeve linings. Trousers #1 are full cut & wide in the leg, with double inward pleats, side waist button tab adjusters, extra long front tab fastener, lovely 'Lightning' zip-fastened front cash pocket, side slip & 2 rear pockets, button fly, & turn-ups. Trousers #2 have been retailored in the 1960s to have narrow legs without turn-ups, semi-frog-mouth pockets & single pleats; they are not in such good condition but could be repaired or perhaps repurposed into a waistcoat or cap.
Shirt & tie not included.

Condition: In very good to excellent condition showing light wear overall, with some minor flaws: the jacket has a small 4mm hole below the bottom button (arrowed) - some yellowing to the collar fold - a few scuffs & marks to the lining. Trousers #1 appear seldom worn, with some light marks to the linings. Trousers #2 have been more heavily used, with some wear to the knees & seat - 2 buttons missing from the waist tabs - a hole near the fly & several holes near the hems (arrowed). Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing but not cleaned.
