A vintage mid 1950s Burton 2-piece suit, made from heavyweight Harris Tweed in a marled, variegated sage green colour. Single-breasted 3 button jacket with medium padded shoulders, notch lapels, suppressed or fitted waist, side vents, welted chest & angled lower flap hand & ticket pockets, cuffs with 1 decorative button; fully lined in grey/green rayon with ivory sleeve linings. Trousers are full cut & wide in the leg, with side waist button tab adjusters, braces buttons, side slip & 1 rear pocket, button fly, & turn-ups. Unusual Burtons label with extra-large font.
Shirt & tie not included.

Condition: In good condition overall, with signs of use & some minor flaws: - as is often the case with country clothes, there is an overall patina & slight fade, more evident across the upper body (the colour difference is apparent when looking under the lapel) - the jacket has a small repair on the edge of the lapel roll, another on the right lower skirt (arrowed), & some scattered moth surface nips/grazes - some discolouration to the lining, mainly across the shoulder/neck area & inside the cuffs - some yellowing to the collar fold. The trousers have some patches of yellowing/staining next to & at the base of the fly (in my opinion not that apparent when worn - see close up) - a small repair on the centre front right thigh (arrowed) - a cluster of surface moth nips on the outer left leg near the cuff (circled) - a bit of wear around the hems - a few other scattered nips which the camera couldn't see - some marks & discolouration to the pocket bags & lining - the waist has been taken in & the finishing there is a bit untidy. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing but not cleaned.
