Vintage 1950s Mens Burtons Double Breasted Overcoat Coat Brownish Olive Green Herringbone Wool DB Belted 40"/42"
A stylish vintage mid 1950s overcoat, made by 'Burton' from a thick, slightly fleecy Crombie-type wool cloth with a textured herringbone weave in an unusual brownish olive green melange which was surprisingly hard to capture; on my screen the close-ups are most accurate. It is double-breasted with broad lapels, has moderately padded shoulders, top-stitched seams giving swelled edges, cuff turnbacks, 2 lower hand-warmer pockets with fleecy cotton linings, & matching belt with plastic imitation leather buckle. Fully lined with olive satiny fabric, with an inside breast pocket.
NB Accessories not included.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.
Size: Suggested 40"/42" extra long fitting, depending on whether a suit jacket is worn beneath. Photographed on a 38" mannequin.
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent):

Shoulder to shoulder: 20" (51cm)
Shoulder to cuff: 28" (71cm)
Armpit to cuff: 19 1/2" (49.5cm)

Condition:
In very good to excellent condition, with light surface wear overall - there are some scattered small surface nips, the most apparent of which are indicated; the surface nap is quite disguising - a few faint marks - the lining has a few scuffs & marks, mostly towards the hem. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
