About this item
A vintage 1950s dress, hand/home made from a floppy rayon fabric in red. It has a low roundish neckline, short sleeves with darted heads, & flared 8-gore skirt with tiered, scalloped peplum frills with hand embroidered edges & floral decoration at the side waist; there is an unusual centre back opening with Australian-made silver metal 'Lightning' zip.

All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent):
Bust: 17 1/2" (44.3 cm)
Waist approx: 14" (35.6 cm)
Hips: 19" (48.2 cm)
Sleeve length shoulder seam to cuff: 10" (25.3 cm)
Arm opening at cuff: 6 1/2" (16.5 cm)
Length nape to waist seam: 15" (38.1 cm)
Length nape to hem approx: 48" (121.8 cm)
Condition:
In good condition overall - there is subtle faint discolouration to the underarms - a repair to the skirt front 2 1/2 up from the hem & toward to right side seam & 2 pin holes directly above it (see last photo) - a small frayed hole to the edge of the back hem near the right side seam - a pin hole to the skirt back below the peplum. On looking inside, some of the seam edges are unfinished, tufty & fraying a bit.
Has been carefully hand washed and steamed prior to listing.
