A striking vintage early 1950s sun dress & bolero jacket set, made from cotton primarily with a bold print of tessellated rectangles in magenta, yellow, & green containing white floral sprays on a black background, with plain yellow used for the upper bodice & bolero waistband lining. The dress is sleeveless, has a wide round neck, is gathered & lined at the bust, with Princess seams from under-bust to hem (so there is no waist seam), & gathering at the hips to accentuate the flare of the skirt; it opens at the centre back with a painted metal 'Aero' zip. The bolero is in a sleeveless dolman style, with a self-tie waistband.

Condition:
The dress is in generally good condition - the yellow upper bodice is unevenly faded, with damage & fraying to the edges, some repairs around the armholes & a tear to the inside facing (see photos) - the printed parts of the dress are slightly faded overall, with a more pronounced fade to the bodice front - the hem has been taken up & subsequently let down, leaving a faded crease line & a slightly darker section below. The bolero has been worn less than the dress & is in very good condition, with slightly stronger colours.
Has been hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
