A delightful vintage boys Edwardian era Argyll type kilt jacket & waistcoat made from a fairly soft tweed fabric in alternating wide & narrow herringbone weave in marled grey/black & off white. The jacket has 3 button fastening & is somewhat longer than later styles - lightly-padded shoulders with epaulettes - gauntlet cuffs - twin side vents - angled welted chest & scalloped flapped lower pockets - body lined with grey-green polished cotton with 1 chest pocket, sleeves lined with glazed cream cotton. Waistcoat with 2 lower flapped & 1 chest pockets, backed & lined to match the jacket. Both pieces are fitted with polished horn buttons. A wonderful piece of early tailoring, great as a study piece or for a lucky lad to wear!

Condition: In very good condition overall, with light wear & some minor flaws - on the jacket there is a repair on the left skirt front & a hole on the right shoulder (circled in photos) - scattered small surface snags & pulls - a few faint brownish marks - some watermarks & spots to the sleeve linings - the waistcoat has some marks & discolouration to the lining. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed but a musty storage smell remains.
