A vintage 1950s Harris Tweed sports jacket intended for a chunky lad or perhaps a little person, made by 'Waveney Sportswear' from 100% pure wool fabric in a classic mini check weave in shades of brown, greeny-blue & natural. Single breasted 2-button fastening with notched lapels - side vents - lightly padded shoulders - fitted waist - welted breast & lower flapped hand & ticket pockets - leather 'football' buttons - fully lined with pale olive rayon fabric with 1 chest pocket. The Harris label bears the 'Applied in accordance' text which I believe came into use in about 1954.

Size: Suggested 36 Extra Short Photographed on a 38" mannequin. All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent):
Chest - armpit to armpit: 19 1/2" (49.5cm) Shoulder to shoulder: 16 1/2" (42cm) Shoulder to cuff: 20" (51cm) [about 1 1/2" available to let down] Armpit to cuff: 13" (33cm) Waist: 18" (46cm) Back length - bottom of collar to hem: 25 1/2" (65cm)
Condition: In good condition overall, with signs of wear & some flaws - there is a moth hole about 5mm diameter near the ticket pocket, another on the lower centre back towards the hem (arrowed) - slight yellowing to the collar fold & several moth nips around the collar area - a few other surface nips & grazes - a faint dark mark near the left pocket flap - one cuff button is an odd replacement - the lining has been some scuffs, marks & stains, particular at the left front corner. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
