Vintage Mens 1930s 1940s Shawl Collar Cardigan Sweater Navy Blue Knit Knitted Wool Jacket S
A characterful vintage American circa 1930s/1940s cardigan sweater jacket, knitted from chunky wool yarn in navy blue colour, somewhat darker than it appears on my screen. It has a particularly generous shawl collar, deep ribbed cuffs, 2 pockets & fastens with leather 'football' buttons. No labels present.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.
Size: Suggested UK Small, quite long fitting - shown on a mannequin with a 38" chest - Please check measurements below.
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent):

Width at Hem: 20” (51cm)
Shoulder to shoulder: 17 1/2” (44.5cm)
Sleeve length shoulder to cuff: 26" (66cm)
Sleeve length pit to cuff: 22” (56cm)
Back length from bottom of collar to hem: 28 1/2” (72.5cm)
Condition:
In good used condition overall with some wear & flaws - there are several plucks & snags on the left chest & upper left sleeve, as if college badges have been removed, & a few other snags here & there - pulling at the pocket corners - a small hole at the centre back hem, another on the bottom front edge & another on the right cuff (circled) - a faded spot on the right collar & a bleached patch on the left sleeve (circled - less apparent when worn than in the photos) - some wear to the buttonholes & the buttons are old replacements; there are loops on the collar edge but no corresponding buttons. Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
Returns:
I do my very best to carefully list/illustrate any flaws I find. This item is sold as is - no returns unless the item has been grossly misrepresented.
Please check the above measurements and compare to a similar garment of your own before buying - no refund offered for items that don’t fit..
