Vintage Mens 1930s Striped Wool Collarless Pullover Shirt Work Grandad British Half Placket 15"
A rare vintage circa 1930s collarless shirt by 'Consulate', made from a medium-weight, fairly soft wool (or perhaps wool & cotton) fabric in marled pinkish tones with aqua & brick multiple pinstripes - on my screen the close up of the label is most accurate. It is in the half-buttoned pullover or overhead style with an off-white neckband to attach a separate collar, has long tails with reinforcing gussets, & sleeves pleated into single buttoning cuffs with double buttonholes for optional links, & gussets in the vents; the buttons are mother-of-pearl.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.
Size: Marked size 4, suggested to fit 15" neck. Shown on a mannequin with a 38" chest.
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent):
Collar from button to buttonhole: 15 3/8" (39cm)
Chest from pit to pit: 24 1/2" (62cm)
Shoulder seam to seam: 17 1/4" (43.8cm)
Sleeve shoulder to cuff: 23" (58.5cm)
Sleeve pit to cuff: 20" (51cm)
Back length (base of collar at back to hem): 34 1/2" (87.5cm)
Condition:
In very good condition overall - the collar stud holes have been hand sewn shut & one of the cuff buttons moved to the neck for fastening (easily reversed if desired) - there is slight yellowing inside the neck back - a small pinhole at the right side (arrowed). Has been carefully washed in Woolite & ironed prior to listing.
I have a no returns policy - please check the above measurements and compare to a similar garment of your own before buying - no refund offered for items that don’t fit.
