Vintage Mens 1930s Tweed Argyll Kilt Jacket & Waistcoat Set Ginger Windowpane Check Wool Tailored Traditional Scottish Sports Coat 36"
A vintage 1930s Argyll style kilt jacket & waistcoat made by 'Stark Brothers, Edinburgh' from a beautiful tweed in a ginger & natural diagonal weave with windowpane checks in two shades of blue; it has the weight & feel of Harris but is not labelled as such. The jacket has a 2 button fastening with wide lapels - padded shoulders with epaulettes - gauntlet cuffs - fitted waist - twin side vents - welted chest & scalloped flapped lower pockets - nicely top-stitched edges & rib details - body lined with coppery brown rayon twill fabric with 1 chest & 1 ticket pocket, sleeves lined with cream polished cotton. Waistcoat with 2 welted chest & 2 flapped lower pockets, 1 inside pocket - lined & backed to match the jacket. Both pieces are fitted with real stag horn buttons. Made intentionally short & cut away at the front for wear with kilt & sporran, this type of Highland jacket can also be seen in period photos worn with plus fours & breeches.
NB Headgear not included.
