Vintage Mens 1940s 1950s "Braintry" Cotton Shirt Pale Ivory Spearpoint Collar British 15"
A vintage 1940s/1950s 'Braintry' shirt made by 'Luvisca Ltd.' from fine cotton poplin fabric in a pale ivory colour. Unusually for a British shirt of this period it is full front-opening or coat style with lower overlap, has an attached soft 'spearpoint' collar with underside stay slots, long tails with reinforcing gussets, & long sleeves pleated into single, buttoned cuffs; the buttons are pearlescent early plastic.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.
Size: Marked 15 neck but has shrunk over the years - see measurements below. Shown on a mannequin with a 38" chest.
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent):
Collar from button to buttonhole: 15" (38cm) but the button has been moved by 1/2" to enlarge the size
Chest from pit to pit: 23" (58.5 cm)
Shoulder seam to seam: 16 1/2" (42 cm)
Sleeve shoulder to cuff: 24 1/2" (62 cm)
Sleeve pit to cuff: 21 1/2" (54.5 cm)
Back length (base of collar at back to hem): 35" (89cm)
Condition:
In very good condition overall - the left collar tip has worn through, resulting in a tiny frayed area - the top button has been moved. Has been gently washed & pressed prior to listing.
I have a no returns policy - please check the above measurements and compare to a similar garment of your own before buying - no refund offered for items that don’t fit.
