Vintage Mens 1940s 1950s Double Breasted Overcoat Coat Marled Sea Green Blue Wool DB 38"
A striking vintage 1940s or early 1950s overcoat, made from a fairly heavy weight cavalry twill wool cloth in a lovely marled sea greeny - blue colour. It is double-breasted with broad lapels, has 6 front buttons & 3 decorative buttons on the cuffs, medium padded shoulders with rear-sloping seams, 2 flapped lower patch pockets, & long rear kick vent. Fully lined with taupe rayon twill fabric, with an inside breast pocket, & fitted with attractive swirly marbled buttons. The only label present is a day of the week cutter tag dated Thursday 18 December, which could be either 1948 or 1952.

Size: Suggested Small/Medium Regular, to fit about a 38" chest, depending on whether a suit jacket is worn beneath.

All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent):

Condition:
In very good to excellent condition with light wear overall - the buttons have been moved at some point to accommodate a larger person, leaving faint marks where they originally were - the top buttonhole is frayed - there are 3 faint brown marks on the right side of the skirt (circled), a faint spot on the collar back, a few small surface snags/plucks. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
