Vintage Mens 1940s 1950s Harris Tweed Sports Jacket Blue Brown Patch Pockets 40"
A vintage late 1940s or early 1950s Harris Tweed sports jacket, made by 'Alexandre' from 100% pure wool in a classic mini check weave in shades of brown, pale blue & natural. Single breasted 2-button fastening with wide lapels - no vents - heavily padded shoulders - fitted or suppressed waist - welted breast & large lower patch pockets - fully lined with pinky beige rayon twill fabric with 1 chest pocket, sleeves lined with cream rayon twill.

All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent):
Jacket Chest - armpit to armpit: 22" (56cm)
Shoulder to shoulder: 19" (48cm)
Shoulder to cuff: 24 1/2" (62.2cm) [feels like about 2" available to let down]
Armpit to cuff: 17" (43cm)
Waist: 20" (51cm)
Back length - bottom of collar to hem: 31 1/2" (80cm)
Condition:
In very good to excellent condition, with light wear overall - there is a faint light brown mark to the inner right cuff (arrowed) - the top buttonhole has been repaired - the sleeve linings have some splotchy marks - the sleeves appear to have been shortened long ago. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
