Vintage Mens 1940s 1950s Selgard Trenchcoat Double Breasted Raincoat Mac Trench Coat 42"
A slightly shabby vintage 1940s/1950s 'Selgard' raincoat or trench coat made from proofed wool gabardine fabric in a taupe colour. Cut in a classic double-breasted style, it has quite heavily padded shoulders, cuff tabs, slash pockets through to inner patch pocket bags, kick vent, & matching belt with leather covered buckle. Fully lined with bronze satiny rayon fabric with an inside ticket pocket.

All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent):
Chest - armpit to armpit: 25" (63.5cm)
Shoulder to shoulder.: 18 1/2" (47cm)
Shoulder to cuff: 26" (66cm)
Armpit to cuff: 18 1/2" (47cm)
Waist: 25 1/2" (65cm)
Back length - base of collar to hem: 47" (119cm)
Condition:
In fair condition with some flaws & signs of wear overall - there is a general patina & scattered marks here & there - several small moth surface nibbles & holes, most noticeably on both cuffs, towards the lower left front hem, on the upper left sleeve & back left shoulder, on the lower back left hem (see close ups) - some grubbiness around the cuffs - a faded/slightly bleached patch on the right sleeve - the lining has some scuffs, marks, staining & discolouration, mostly across the shoulders & the lower sleeves - the left pocket bag has come loose at the top left corner. Has been thoroughly steamed prior to listing.
