A super vintage 1940s American two-piece suit in a rare extra large size, custom tailor made in 1949 by 'English Woolen Mills, Milwaukee' from a medium-weight wool flannel type of fabric in a mid brown shade with off-white broken pinstripes. The double-breasted jacket has quite strongly padded shoulders, very broad peaked lapels, fitted waist, flapped lower pockets, & 6 x 2 button fastening; it is part lined in brownish rayon with ivory sleeve linings. The trousers are full-cut & wide in the leg, with flat front, belt loops, Talon zip fly & brace buttons, turn-ups, and side slip, one flapped & one plain rear pockets.
Shirt & tie not included.

Condition:
In good to very good condition overall, with some signs of wear & a few flaws: - the jacket has 4 small moth holes on the left sleeve (arrowed), some marks & stains to the lining - the trousers have an area of faint discolouration at the crotch, where there are also some old machined repairs with a patch inside, 2 small moth holes just below the waistband on the right side, another between the waistband & left back pocket, another near the front crease at the right hem (all arrowed), some discolouration to the pocket bags & waistband lining, the waist has been taken in at some point & there is a faint crease around the turn-ups where the hems have been altered. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing; there are a few faint mud spots so a dry clean would be beneficial.
