Vintage Mens 1940s Bespoke Mackenzie Tartan Trews Military Highland Trousers Post WW2 Uniform Pants 30"
A cracking pair of vintage 1940s Mackenzie tartan trews, bespoke tailored in 1947 from a firm, medium-weight wool fabric by 'Wm. Anderson' for a Captain Bell, presumably of the Highland Light Infantry or perhaps the Seaforth Highlanders, for both of whom it was the regimental tartan. They are cut in the correct manner with no outside leg seams, have flat fronts with frogmouth pockets, high-rise fishtail back, button fly, braces buttons, & full turn-ups at the hem.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.
Size: Suggested 30" waist.
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent):
Waist: 15" (38cm) - about 2" to let out but you'd have to rebuild the fishtail
Inside leg: 30" (76cm) [1/2" to let down without using the turn-ups]
Outside leg: 43 1/2" (110.5cm)
Rise - crotch seam to top of waist: 15" (38cm)
Leg width at hem: 9 1/2" (24cm)
Condition:
In good condition overall with signs of wear & some flaws: - there are 3 small holes each to the right & left front thighs (arrowed) - a few scattered tiny surface moth nips which the camera couldn't see - wear & discolouration to the pocket entries - discolouration, stains & marks to the linings & pocket bags - the fork lining is worn & shredded. Have been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing but a storage smell remains, rather like they have been wrapped in an oilskin.
I have a no returns policy - please check the above measurements and compare to a similar garment of your own before buying - no refund offered for items that don’t fit.
