Vintage Mens 1940s CC41 Double Breasted Suit Light Grey Wool Blue Windowpane Check 42"
A slightly shabby but still stylish vintage 1940s CC41 Utility Scheme labelled two-piece suit, made from fairly lightweight wool fabric in a light grey mixture with wide-set herringbone self-stripes & subtle blue windowpane overchecks. The double-breasted jacket has wide, strongly padded shoulders, broad lapels, fitted waist, flapped lower pockets, & 4 x 1 button fastening; it is fully lined in grey rayon twill with off-white sleeve linings. The trousers are full-cut & extremely wide in the leg, with tunnel belt loops, double inward pleats, button fly, brace buttons, turn-ups, and side slip & 1 flapped rear pockets. Both pieces have faded CC41 labels, in positions which suggest that this may have been tailor made - no maker's labels present.
Accessories not included.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.

Condition:
In good but well-worn condition with signs of use & some flaws - both pieces have overall sun fading & patina yellowing which is slightly more apparent across the shoulders & on the thighs; the colour difference is noticeable when looking under the lapels & on the inside. The jacket also has wear & framing to the buttonhole & the leading edge at the break, & around the cuffs - yellowing to the collar fold, a small patch of wear on the centre of the collar & another on the collar edge (arrowed) - on the inside, the lining has some scuffs & marks, a hole at the neck, some amateurish repairs at the hem - the sleeve linings have wear & holes at the cuffs & at the sleeve heads. The trousers have a small repair near the fly (arrowed) - repair by the waistband hook - wear to the left pocket edge (circled) - wear & repairs to the back pocket (arrowed) - wear & machined repairs to the hem edge, resulting in slightly wonky turn-ups - some wear, marks, & discolouration to the pocket bags & lining; the curtain lining is rather delicate & has worn through in places. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
