A fantastic vintage 1940s CC41 Utility Scheme labelled two-piece suit from 'CWS' (i.e. the Co-operative Workers Society), made from a fairly soft, herringbone wool tweed fabric in a forest green colour which was rather hard to capture; on my screen the close ups of the labels are most accurate. Single-breasted 3 button jacket with medium padded shoulders, broad notch lapels, fitted waist, welted chest & lower flap pockets, austerity type tubular cuffs with 3 decorative buttons; lined in grey rayon twill with off-white striped sleeve linings. Trousers are full-cut & wide in the leg, with double inward pleats, belt loops, braces buttons, side slip & buttoned cash pockets, button fly, turn-ups. The CC41 label has obviously been cut away from the jacket but remains on the trousers, & there is a lovely embroidered CWS label in the pocket. This has been in my collection for years but regrettably doesn't fit me and it deserves to be worn; CC41 sports cut suits are very rare, and even more so in a green colour such as this - you are unlikely to see another!
Hat, shirt & tie not included.

In good condition overall, with signs of use & some repairs:
The jacket has 2 discreet repairs on the lower left side (arrowed) & wear/holes to the left pocket flap lining - the lining has scuffs, snags, some marks, & wear to the top pocket edges. The trousers have a patch repair to each lower back inside leg (arrowed); the fabric for these has been cut from inside of one of the turn-ups, where a different piece has been inserted, so it would be difficult or impossible to alter the leg length (see close ups); in my opinion these patches would not be overly apparent when worn but photos on a model are included to help you decide - repairs & reinforcement patching to the hem edges - a repair to the right outside front turn-up (arrowed) - some discolouration, stains & wear to the pocket bags & crotch lining - repairs behind 2 of the brace buttons, which are replacements. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
