A superb vintage 1940s overcoat, made from an exquisite thick but soft wool double-face cloth in a large-scale glen plaid type of weave on the outside in a complex mix of variegated speckled blues, greys, browns, rusty orange & black and a blue/grey tartan on the inside. It is double-breasted with broad peaked lapels, has 6 pearlescent grey front buttons, turn-back cuffs, medium padded shoulders, 2 generous flapped lower pockets, long rear kick vent, & belt loops but no belt. Part lined with rusty red satiny twill fabric, with 2 inside breast & 1 small ticket pocket. No labels present.

Size: Suggested Large/Extra Large, Long, to fit about a 42"/44" chest, depending on whether a suit jacket is worn beneath.

Condition:
In excellent condition overall, appears seldom worn - on closer examination there are a few small moth nibbles & tiny holes which are well hidden by the busy weave (the most noticeable are arrowed) - faint discolouration & marks to the lining. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
